Tom Irons MD

Tom Irons is a senior Professor of Pediatrics at East Carolina University. He maintains an active clinical teaching practice and has worked with uninsured and underserved for most of my career. He has worked in Mwandi since 2008 and takes senior medical students and residents every February. He was the first Treasurer of Mwandi Mission Hospital American Partners and remains in that role today. He is passionate about his work and is deeply grateful to have the opportunity to serve his brothers and sisters there

Peggy Schrieber MD

Peggy Schrieber is a general surgeon from Denver, Colorado and the current chair of the board. She has been traveling to Mwandi since she finished her training in 1999. She spent 6 months at Mwandi Hospital as a mentor and physician in 2001 and has since taken surgical mission teams to the hospital once or twice a year, providing specialty care otherwise unavailable to the community. As chair, she hopes to continue supporting infrastructure projects such as improving the water system, expanding the solar network and promoting the expansion of Mwandi Hospital to a specialty hospital.

Verna Case PhD

Verna Miller Case, Ph.D. is the Beverly F. Dolan Professor of Biology at Davidson College. She has been traveling to Mwandi with Davidson students since 2000. Dr. Case was elected to the American Partners Trustees in 2007 and served as Chair of the Board from 2011 – 2018. She is currently Board Secretary.

William Crosland MD

William Crosland is an interventional cardiologist with St. Joseph's/Candler Health System in Savannah, GA. He first visited in 2007 as an undergraduate student and has remained involved throughout his career

Tasha Samborski

Tasha Samborski is currently an Associate at Echo Health Ventures in Portland, Oregon. She received a degree in Translational Science from Davidson College where she studied abroad and conducted thesis research in Mwandi. She joined Mwandi Hospital American Partners to give back to the community and make a change in their healthcare needs. Along with a passion for healthcare access and equity, Tasha brings finance and consulting expertise to the Partners and works to bring innovative ideas to challenges faced by the citizens of Mwandi.

Bruce Eberhard

California native, Graduated Colorado School of Mines 1957 as Metallurgical Engineer. Married Colorado girl in 1957 and mover to South Carolina to work for DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. Retired in 1993 and in 1994 made first of about 10 trips to Mwandi. Served on the American Partners board since 2006. In retirement I have assumed the role of general Handy Man/Do it Yourselfer in Mwandi.
